Socrates said it best: “An unexamined life is not worth living.” Apply that to your archery, and the message gets sharper.

If you want to get better, stop guessing at what your technique looks like and start seeing it. My goal in this series of education series is to give you the tools for self assessments. This is so important because you don’t want the crutch of needing a coach to lean on every day. Instead lean on your own knowledge that you’re learning and APPLY IT! Set up a camera, film yourself shooting, pull out the photos. You’d be surprised how different your form looks on screen versus how it feels when you’re standing at the line pulling.

If your practice sessions aren’t producing growth, the practice needs to change. Put your reps into what’s moving you forward and cut what isn’t.

And stop chasing gear. A skilled archer can shoot a bad bow well. A bad archer with the best equipment is still a bad archer.

The bow doesn’t fix the shooter.

Examine yourself. Improve your technique, both internally and externally. Good things will follow.
