This week’s quote is a Zen proverb, and it hit me hard:

“When walking, walk. When eating, eat.”

Right now, unlimited resources are fighting to pull our attention away from what we’re doing: training, working out, spending time with family, etc.

Focus on being in the moment.

I learned this firsthand during competition. A coach approached me on the line and said, “All I want you to do is focus on breathing and being in the moment.” That advice changed how I approached every shot.

The same principle applies off the range. Sitting at your desk trying to be a good employee doesn’t work if your head is at the archery range. Scrolling through social media invites whatever garbage the algorithms throw at you, and that creates anxiety that pulls you away from the task in front of you.

This week, channel all your focus into what you’re doing right now. When you’re working, work. When you’re shooting, shoot. Be in the moment, and watch what happens.
