“The will to win means nothing without the will to prepare.”
Juma Ikangaa nailed it here. I keep coming back to this quote as I prepare for my spring bear hunt. The big takeaway from this quote is recognizing the differences between DESIRE & DISCIPLINE!
“Wanting” to be at your best isn’t the same as “Being” at your best.
Anyone can want a notched tag. Far fewer put in the reps to make it happen. This is where your decision on your discipline will be the determining factor on your outcome. I have made the mistake of thinking archery skills transfer from year to year and hunt to hunt without the work. BIG MISTAKE!
Skipping your prep and walking into a hunt, a tournament, a TAC, or an indoor league lacking confidence is the worst feeling in archery. The difference between a filled tag and tag soup comes down to what you did when nobody was watching and understanding your equipment cause and effect.
Love the process more than the prize, and the prizes will stack up.
