Attention, School of Nock Class of ’26: this is the final week before midterms. It’s time to start reviewing everything we’ve covered in the first quarter.

That brings to mind a quote from Confucius: “The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.”

I just finished my good friend Andy Stumpf’s book, “Drownproof.” In one chapter, Andy talks about his first job working with his dad, who was a mason. His job was moving massive pallets of bricks on job sites.

Each morning his day would start with a mountain of bricks needing to be relocated to the place on the job site when the masons were working. It was an overwhelming thing to look at when you only looked at the end result of moving thousands of bricks every day.

How did he get it done effectively? By not being overwhelmed by a huge end goal and instead- Breaking it into chunks and tackling one piece at a time.

That’s exactly what we’ve been doing this year in the School of Nock! Every single week has given you the opportunity to take small pieces and build. Mindset Mondays get your head on straight, Bowcabulary gives you knowledge midweek, and School of Nock on Fridays gives you the homework and application to put into practice.

Gold medals are built from fundamentals, solidified and polished.

Take a moment to look back at how far you’ve come this year. Reflect on the progress you’ve made as an archer, but understand there’s still a lot more work to be done. Don’t look too far ahead of yourself. You’ve got this week left to complete.

I’ll be here to guide you. Plenty more School of Nock content is on the way.
