Backcountry Bruins – My Mentors Reunion
Here’s One of My Most Memorable Hunts! I booked an entire week of camp to give back to those who taught me! Before I was old enough to get a beer I went on my first BC wilderness hunt for a bear! In fact, my 21st bday party was a bear hunt with a bow! I was lucky enough to be guided by Bert Fillion who is like my backcountry dad. He taught me what I know about being in the mountains, camping, skinning, trapping, breaking down wild game and how to spot N stalk. I’ve hunted with Bert ever since and as he outfitted I became like brothers with some of the boys at camp. His son Dusty and his close friend Jeremy have been with me almost every single hunt throughout Canada since then. They are brothers to me. Nick was once a guide for Bert but now runs an amazing operation Chilcontin River Outfitters. This was the first hunt where I was able to watch these guys get a tag filled for themselves.
