BEST TO BE L8TE THAN NEVER! – I Finally Got This Old Sucker at the Start of 2025!
For years and years I’ve had encounters with this gnarly old 8pt buck. He must have the 7th senses because he was always overly cautious, all knowing, minutes too early or minutes too late. There were a few times I would have him dead to rights but at a time where I would have to choose to tag him or the Bigger Target buck that was right there at the same time. He just was one of those bucks that had the advantages on his side constantly. On the last day of the 2024 season and technically the first successful hunt of 2025, I was finally able to send a meat seeker right to the ticker! It was frigid cold but a hot day in the blind!
Credit to the success of this hunt is Late Season Food Source of standing beans and frigid temps. I hunted 8 days getting in the blind about 1030am right after deer would exit to their bedding areas. 6-7 hour sits are required because deer are so on edge following the gun season. You have to be whisper quiet once the first deer hits the food source.
