DON’T BE A DROP OUT! Things to consider about you arrow choice!
Here’s a simple FRONT POINT WEIGHT TEST that will quickly show you what a heavier arrow means to your archery gear choices. There’s so much debate over arrow weight but this is Food 4 Thought. Arrow weight, FOC, Momentum, Kinetic Energy, ect is constantly a hot topic in archery. You need to know what all speed/weight affects because there’s trade offs, important ones! I’m asked all the time how to achieve more distance from the bow especially from people participating in summer archery events like the Total Archery Challenge. Well your arrow weight and point weight choices are BIG ones that affect your achievable distance. I 100% believe there’s a middle ground on this topic to get you the best of both. I choose an arrow that’s not super light but also not extreme in high overall weight. This video shows you what weight does in regards to the sight scale, arrow drop and what affects you can have when Mis-ranging the distance! Also, For the record I’ve taken 99.9% of my lifetimes animals with a arrow that isn’t extreme FOC. I personally believe my success would be much, much lower if I had a slow high arching arrow where I focussed only on weight rather than plotting arrows downrange and finding the middle ground, (like I did in this video) For those who will argue accuracy, you should first research historical arrow choices for Olympic athletes who are the most accurate in the world. They also don’t shoot extreme FOC because groupings show diminishing return for that choice. There’s lots of archers showing up to shoot longer distances at TAC and suddenly realizing what an extreme weight arrow means for that. Here’s some simple homework I did with only deciding between 50 or 75 grains up front! For this video my bow is 30.5” draw, 62lbs. This bow is for summer shooting and small game.
