3 Days on 30 Acres – Breaking the Oct Lull with Hoyt AX-3 and HuntWise.
This October, I wanted to accept a challenge of hunting a new small acre property with the New Hoyt AX-3 bow. I had 7 days total to scout, hang, sit and notch a tag with one of my friends from the HuntWise app. Day 1 was windy, so I used it as a screen to walk the perimeters and identify some major game trails. I discovered a massive rub line from a dominant buck. On Day 2 I hung one stand in a location that was non-invasive and sat the day to observe. We had several doe and one nice buck walk by. On Day 2 we went back to the same location and had more encounters but still no sign of a stud. On Day 3 we returned in the morning and witnessed the buck we wanted pushing some doe and a small buck around on the other side of the timber edge. Night 3 we made a move by pulling in a portable blind just outside the opposite timber edge. We waited until prime time and hit the antlers together and grunted several times. Within a minute this buck came out of the timber ready for a fight. The all new Hoyt AX-3 sent a perfectly tuned arrow and T2 broad head right to the ticker!
